Review Peter Phillips Emulations
As a reproducing piano enthusiast I was more than delighted to discover the work Peter Phillips has undertaken with the scanning of such a huge volume of rare and valuable piano rolls and making the scans available in emulation format. His work especially in the area of recording AMPICO, Welte & Duo-Arts piano rolls is exceptional and as a proud owner of these emulations I have been able to greatly extend my collection of these important historical recordings. Also, as an owner of the uncommon Red Welte reproducing system I was able to test Peter’s emulation to an original performance using my Welte-Mignon Vorsetzer. The result was amazing; it was difficult discerning between the original performance and the emulation. It is hoped others will come to appreciate the great service Peter has done in preserving such valuable items of music history.Chris Neave (25 May 2017, 16:28)
